Google hacked? Not

Some kid on Digg claims he hacked google. Not quite. The Google blog
was deleted and someone re-registered it. Clever but dumb. Google has the power to make you go away and swim with the fishes. Lucca Bratzie style.

A woman From Cairo

Val Landi has self-published his novel A Woman From Cairo in spite of being rejected by the major publishers. His story and blog are compelling and interesting. His novel is now available at amazon.com and his blog can be located here. He also has a web site dedicated to the book here.

I read the first 3 chapters online and am hooked to read the entire book with full review to follow. It is nice to see writers that can make it on their own with hard work and determination.

Congrats Val.

Mike and the gang at techcrunch are at it again with the announcment of their new service talkcrunch, a podcast series with companies that they write about. Ever since Mike has been on the Gillmore gang, I though he had what it takes to produce a quality podcast. Good luck gentlemen.

Italian Serie A

Got a chance to watch some footie this weekend and I am pleased with the results. Juve and milan seem to have the top spots well tied up for now, so I was interested in Fiorentina (I am a supporter) and Roma's fight for the last champians league spot. Fiorentina was able to take care of neighbor Siena, but Rome was a late goal from Inter away from getting 3 points. The results? Fiornetina is in the last spot and I hope they can reamin there. Rome had a hot run, but with Totti sidelined and getting checked by Inter this week, Fiorentina should be holding the bag for the next few weeks.

Italy looked good mid week against Germany in Florence for the world cup warm ups. The combination of Toni, Del Piero and Ghildarino (and if Totti makes it back) could result in a good trek in the June festivities. Let's see how US will do against Italy the second week of June in Kaiserlaturen.

RSS and Blogging

I have been trying out some new tools for RSS and Blogging.  Bloglines and Ecto have been a staple here at the old camp, but I am always looking for new goodies.  So  I am trying out Qumana blogging software and Lektora RSS reader.  I will let you know in a few days what I think, but this blogging and RSS space is huge.  What to use???????????

In another note, I found on lifehacker a cool little trick to get your gmail email lists to form into atom feeds and read with a password compliant reader.  Here is the very helpful article.  I set up a quick feed in NetNewswire for mac and it works great.  Drawbacks that are pointed out in the article:

  • Need a password authenticated feed and associated feed reader that will handle it - read no bloglines

    • Gmail does not provide full text feeds - that sucks.......

The edge of the web

I tried out edgeio the other day and posted a fake test posting about web 2.0 services. I tried to search the site and I find it totaly un-usable. Now you can take this with a grain of salt, because I rarely use ebay or craigslist, so I am a amature in this field. I read mike and think he does a good job blogging, but this service will join the flock's of the web. A web 2.0 web site with a cool name with not much past the pastel color palet to keep you around......Not sure what edge he is trying to capture?
